Objective To observe the effects of Buxin Yishen Huatan decoction combined with valproic acid in the treatment of adult epilepsy. Methods A total of 96 patients with adult epilepsy admitted to the hospital from May 2016 to May 2017 were selected for the study and were divided into observation group and control group according to the random number table method, with 48 cases in each group. Control group was treated with valproic acid, and observation group was given Buxin Yishen Huatan decoction for combined therapy on the basis of control group. The clinical efficacy in the two groups was compared, and the quality of life scale QOLIE-31 score of patients with epilepsy was counted in the two groups before and after treatment. Results The total effective rate of clinical treatment in observation group was higher than that in control group (95.74% vs 73.91%) (P<0.05). The score of quality of life scale in observation group after treatment was higher than that in control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Buxin Yishen Huatan decoction combined with valproic acid has better effects than valproic acid in the treatment of adult epilepsy, and it can effectively improve the quality of life of patients.
