MRI Appearances of Glomus Tumor in Finger

Abstract

Objective To investigate the MRI appearances of glomus tumor in finger, to improve the understanding of this disease for the sake of misdiagnosis. Methods 11 cases of glomus tumor in finger proved by pathology were analysed retrospectively. All of the cages underwent MRI plain scan and 7 cases underwent MRI enhanced scan. Results 11 cases located at fingernail 10 cases, a case is located in the dorsal phalanges. The tumor borders were clear, MRI showed slightly lower intensities in three cases and isointensities in eight cases on T1 weighted images, and showed high intensities on T2 weighted images and PDWI. In the enhanced scans,all cases were apparent enhancement. Conclusion Finger glomus tumors are typical of the location and MRI appearances, MRI is the preferred method for diagnosing glomus tumors finger.
