MRI Manifestations of Iliotibial Band and Its Attachment to Knee Joint in Acute Injuries*

Abstract

Objective To study the MRI manifestations of Iliotibial band(ITB) and its attachment to knee joint in acute injuries. Methods A retrospective analysis of MRI data of 15 persons with the acute injuries of ITB and its attachment to knee joint. Results ITB rupture in 8 cases, the attachment to knee joint of the ITB rupture in 2 cases, the rupture involved the ITB strap and its attachment to knee joint in 5 cases. Conclusions MRI can accurately evaluate the acute injuries of the ITB and its attachment to knee.
