Abstract

Objective To analyze the MRI representations of rare and giant ovarian benign tumors in elderly women and improve the diagnostic level. Methods A total of 27 cases of rare and giant ovarian benign tumors in elderly women which proved by surgery and pathology were retrospectively analyzed, and the corresponding literatures were reviewed. Results All 27 cases were over 65 years of age and the menopause time was 15-26 years. There were 28 tumors in 27 cases, containing 11 cases of theca cell tumor, 8 cases of ovarian fibromaes and 7 cases of thecoma-fibromaes, 1 cases sclerosing stromal tumor and 1 cases of Brenner tumor respectively. The boundary of all tumors were clear, the maximum diameter of all tumors was 11-25cm and there was no obvious invasion of the surrounding structure. The MRI signal and enhanced characteristics of different types of tumor were diverse. Conclusion MRI can show certain pathological changes of rare and giant ovarian benign tumors in elderly women and show important value for its diagnosis and differential diagnosis.
